How does it work?

No matter what type of ground you’re building on, it must be able to support the weight of a structure. Concrete piers are commonplace of structurally engineered buildings, ensuring that a building remains solid, flat and supported on the ground it stands on. Both concrete footings and concrete piers require specifications in types, reinforcement and depth from a structural engineer. Once these have been determined, the soil type, the soil’s load bearing capacity and size of the pier is able to be planned.

Concrete piers are essentially columns created by digging holes into the foundations and filling them with concrete. When designed correctly, the friction on the sides of each pier should be greater than the load placed on the pier.
